THE FAMILY STONE

Summary plot

Set in the fictional town of Thayer, Massachusetts, the story focuses on Meredith Morton (Sarah Jessica Parker), a successful Manhattan executive whose uptight, conservative demeanor is a sharp contrast to that of her boyfriend Everett Stone (Dermot Mulroney) and his liberal and rambunctious family.

Meredith, feeling very much an outsider during the Christmas holidays with Everett's family, opts to stay at the local inn instead of with the family and asks her sister Julie (Claire Danes) to join her for support. Everett finds himself attracted to the more outgoing Julie. Meredith desperately tries to fit in, but her strained attempt to play charades and a clumsy effort to engage the family in a dinner table discussion about nature versus nurture and sexual orientation prove to be disastrous and their father, Kelly Stone (Craig T. Nelson), the most understanding of the family, blows up at her. Distraught, Meredith attempts to drive off but crashes the car, and Everett's brother Ben (Luke Wilson) comes to comfort her. The two end up at a local bar where, after several drinks, Meredith begins to enjoy herself. She invites Amy's high school flame and local paramedic, Brad Stevenson (Paul Schneider), to the Stones' for Christmas breakfast. The following morning, when she awakens in Ben's bed, she incorrectly assumes their night of revelry ended with the two having sex together.

Christmas proves to be a day of accusations, recriminations, self-discoveries, and attempts to mend fences. Sybil (Diane Keaton), who originally refused Everett's request for his grandmother's ring, reconsiders her position and offers it to him; but, by now, his feelings for Meredith have shifted to her sister. In a moment of emotional confusion – or clarity – he asks Julie to try on the ring, and it gets stuck. When Julie and Meredith lock themselves in the bathroom to get the ring off, they assume Everett is about to propose to Meredith. The family exchanges gifts; and Meredith, oblivious to Sybil's failing health, presents each with a framed enlarged photograph of Sybil taken when she was pregnant with Amy. Everyone is touched by her gesture, and Meredith relaxes slightly; but, when Everett asks to talk to her, she demurs again and again until she blurts out that she will not marry him. He counters that he didn't plan to ask her. Meredith breaks down in front of the family. All the personality conflicts come to a head, and everyone begins the process of healing.

One year later, the family reunites at the Stone house. Meredith and Ben are a couple, as are Everett and Julie and Amy and Brad. Everett's brother Thad and his partner Patrick have adopted a baby boy named Gus, and Everett's other sister, Susannah, has had her baby. It is hinted that Sybil died. She is referenced as the family gathers with family Christmas ornaments around the tree. The framed photograph of Sybil is on the wall next to the tree and Amy is wearing her ring.

Personal opinion

In my opinion, the film has been entertaining and made me laugh in some scenes, I don't look it again, but as I like films set in the Christmas holidays, I give him a approved.

Who wants to learn dance salsa? We are holding training sessions for new members to practice on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Meat in the gym at 6 p.m.

How are you? I’m organizing a day out with you next Saturday. At 9 a.m we will go to Barcelona by train. In there we’re go to Sagrada Familia by underground. At 2 p.m we’re go for lunch at a restaurant near the Barcelona futbol stadium. After that, we’re go for a walk in Plaça Catalunya and we’re return to Banyoles!

Last weekend I got up at 8a.m because at 9am i went to help my father in his office. At 11am I went by bike to theatre classes with my friends! Then, I went to my grandparents house for lunch.

In the afternoon I prepared my costume for the carnival festival

In the night we went with my friends in a restaurant for dinner and we went to the festival.

On Sunday I sleepy all the day!!

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to complain me of one expects of an hour of tail in his supermarket.

The past Tuesday went to buy, how accustom to do, in one of his establishments, and at the time of going to pay my products, was an hour of tail, since only there was a box of the open supermarket.

Furthermore, this happened to the hour to close, to the 9:15 of the night, but a lot of people expecting, is entirely unacceptable.

If it goes back to repeat will have to see me forced to not going back never more in his supermarket, And this is very sad, since apart from me, and may lose many customers, since no we were few.

About my english

Watching movies and series helps to improve my English. Last summer I started to watch Pretty Little Liars in English. At first it was difficult to understand what they were saying and I lost in history, but after a few seasons, I watched it without any problems. I also started any other series like Orange Is the New Black.

Apart from that, a year ago I got a pen pal in Australia. She's Jamie and we know each other because our grandparents are friends. Although we have never met person,we write to each other by email and WhatsApp and occasionally a letter.

Basically we speak in English, but I teach her some words in Catalan. I am very happy to receive a message from her!

MY TRIP TO ITALY

On Monday at 5:15am, we were at school to go to Barcelona airport and catch a plan to Milan. I was very tired because I had gone to bed very late.

In Milan we took a bus to Sirmione. There we ate a giant pizza and we enjoyed the views.

Later, we went by bus to Verona. We arrived to the hotel and we visited the city. 

On the second day, we went to spend all day in Venice. We took a train to reach the colorful city.

I loved its rivers, the papier-maché masks and the colors of the houses. 

We had free time for lunch. The class ate at a very good restaurant. In the afternoon we walked through the streets. i ended up exhausted! 

On the third day we prepared the bags and caught a train path to Florence!

It was seeing the city and I love the colors, the sights,...

We went to the second hotel and to lunch. Later we had the whole afternoon free and we bought souvenirs for the family!

On the fourth day we visited the city: the Uffizi Gallery, the Academy, ...I gad a great time because I really like art.

That day, we all eat ice cream! It was really good!

The last day, we took all the luggage and went to Lucca. We were very tired, and at the free time, we relaxed and had a drink!

Then we went by bus to Pisa! The first thing we did was to eat. Then we visited the Baptistery and we took pictures with the typical tower!

Finally, we went to the airport. We had dinner there, and the plane was a one hour delay!

But we met a group of Llagostera and now we have become good friends!

In conclusion, it has been a great trip. We'll miss the laughter and the unforgettable moments there!
